The Wensleydale Creamery is based at Hawes in Wensleydale, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and is an independent, traditional cheese maker. Wensleydale cheese has a history dating back to 1150, when it was made by Cistercian monks and the current cheese makers still follow passed down recipes to this day.
This Oak Smoked Yorkshire Wensleydale is naturally oak smoked using oak chips which allows for a subtle smokey flavour, whilst retaining the crumbly characteristics that Wensleydale is famous for. The cheese has a dry texture and sharp, lactic flavour.
This cheese is aged for 3 to 6 months and is made with pasteurised cows’ milk and vegetarian rennet.
