Bikaver 2018, Sebestyén

The Sebestyén winery was established in 1998 in one of Hungary’s best wine making regions, Szekszárd. Grapes have been grown and wine has been made here since Roman times thanks to the region’s ideal climate. The winery is family run and small production, with only the very best grapes being selected for wine making.

The 2018 Bikaver is blend of old vine indigenous grapes - 46% Kékfrankos from 40 year old vines and 8% Kadarka from 70 year old vines, both from the Iván Valley, alongside 23% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Merlot. It is aged for 23 months in Hungarian and French oak barrels so develops complex coffee and spice flavours. The wine also has a wonderfully savoury edge with notes of red cherry and cranberry.
