2nd Flush Muscatel, Rare Tea

Rare Tea was founded in London in 2004 by Henrietta Lovell to source and supply the world’s finest loose leaf tea direct from farmers.

Rare Tea is committed to paying the best prices to their skilled farmers, so that long lasting relationships can be built and the communities they work with can thrive. Rather than working with the Fairtrade Organisation, Rare Tea launched their own charity and re-invest a percentage of revenue directly back into the surrounding communities. RARE charity was founded to provide access to education for girls in some of the world’s poorest countries on their partner farms, so that they can give ambitious young individuals the agency and ability to implement long term change.

Rare Tea do not use any chemical pesticides or herbicides on their partner farms so as to preserve the diverse flora and soil in the area. As organic certification is extremely expensive and complicated, their small suppliers often do not apply for the certificates, however, every farm they source from works using organic principles. As all Rare tea is loose leaf, this means that no teabags with bleaches, glues or micro plastics are ever used.

This Second Flush Muscatel is a highly fragrant black tea, grown in the Himalayan state of Sikkim. The tea has a heady, floral aroma with distinctive notes of Muscatel grapes.
