About the Producer

La Favorita was established shortly after the Second World War when the founder began trading local specialities including mushrooms and chestnuts, for anchovies from the local fishermen. The company grew and moved into the production and sale of sauces and preserves made from the very best, local Ligurian produce.
The basil that goes into this extraordinary pesto is the finest in Europe, and even holds DOP status. It is grown in farms around Genoa, on which only traditional farming methods are used, including the use of 100% natural fertiliser. The basil is harvested exactly 30 days after the seeds and sown and only the uppermost leaves are picked, for maximum flavour.
