About the Producer

Hadji Bey was founded in Cork, Ireland in 1902 by Harutun and Esther Batmazian, an Armenian couple. Their first creation was their, now famous, Turkish Delight, which was a huge success at the Great Cork International Exhibition in 1902 and continues to be a bestseller today.

In the early 1990’s, Harutun set about teaching the local people in Ireland about his family heritage and culture and his sweets became a regional favourite. He went on to export his confections to Harrods in London, Bloomingdale’s in New York and to the royal family at Buckingham Palace.

In the 1970’s, the business was taken over by the couple’s son, and in 2010 was purchased by UHC Confectionery and has since moved to a site in in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland.
