Piment d’Espelette, Ferme Kukulu
Piment d’Espelette peppers are grown in the Pyrénées Atlantique commune of France, in the Basque region. The pepper is used every day in the Basque country, as a common replacement for traditional cracked black peppercorns. The peppers are harvested in August each year, dried out either in an oven for more than two full days or hung out in the sun, then ground into a powder.
Piment d’Espelette peppers grade at 4000 on the Scoville scale so are considered mild to medium in terms of heat, but have a wonderful fruity flavour, with slight citrus and smoky notes. Total weight: 40g.
