Fen Farm Butter

Fen Farm Butter is made to the original Suffolk butter making method. First, the cream is soured with a cocktail of lactic bacteria, then it is churned and hand paddled to create a creamy and complex farmhouse butter.

Fen Farm Butter is made from the milk of Montbeliarde cows in Bungay, Suffolk. Montbeliarde cattle are an ancient breed, with a low milk yield, but the milk they do produce is high in protein and extremely rich. The cows now at Fen Farm were originally hand picked, by Jonny, from small farms in the Jura region of France. Back in Suffolk, they live on a variety of herbs and grasses that grow on the grazing land of Stow Fen, a wildlife rich Basin Marsh.
