2. Burns Night, Wednesday 25 January: Do we really need an excuse to eat comfort food and drink whisky? Our consignment of MacSweens Haggis is now in the shop. We have a selection of shapes and sizes including Vegetarian haggis. Phone or call in to reserve yours and  avoid disappointment. You can also choose a selection of Scotland’s best known cheeses such as  Lanark Blue, ( ewes’ milk)  Bishop Kennedy, (washed rind),  and Caboc, Black Crowdie and Inverloch Goat, in addition to a particularly fine tasting  Vintage Isle of Mull with sharp, tangy almost peaty  flavours. 

3.Stoke up your inner fire with Cambridge Chilli Farm sauces. A fresh delivery of the whole range arrived today, including the insanely hot Ghost Pepper 10 sauce and my personal favourite,  Naga Napalm Onion Relish,  wonderful with sausage and mash.

These gorgeous little offerings have been lovingly created and hand painted by Jade – they need to be seen to believed!

Wild Smoked Salmon from Ireland 

Is arriving on Friday 16th.  Due to its extremely limited  supply ( the fishing licence for wild salmon is for two months only to help protect the marine environment) we are selling whole sides only, but can slice it for you if necessary. We also have Organic, Sustainably Farmed Irish Smoked Salmon available by the slice or whole side.  Please phone for prices.

Yesterday we unpacked a huge pallet of christmas stock – the first of several over the coming fortnight, and with a seasonal chill in the air, it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! New for 2011! Cheese and Wine Hamper for just £35

Our attractive craft cardboard gift box with a clear cellophane lid (not shown) contains a bottle of red or white wine  and four cheeses and makes an easy yet elegant gift.  The cheeses are selected to include a soft, hard, blue and one other.   Please note that the cheeses and wine may vary from the photo, but we can be flexible if there’s something you particularly want to include.

We have a customer loyalty card, pick up yours next time you visit.  We’ll give you a stamp each time you spend £20 or more, and when it’s complete,  it’s worth 20% discount off your next purchase. It must be one of the most low-tech loyalty schemes around: there’s no time limit to complete your card,  we’re not collecting your personal details or shopping data, and we’ve kept it as string free as possible!

Yes, it’s that time of year again, the advance Christmas order forms will be in the shop this weekend and downloadable from this website in a few days. Christmas goodies are arriving daily so if you visit and can’t see what you want, please ask – it’s probably been moved to a new shelf!
